Amanda reminds me I've known her for 12 years. That's a long time! I first met her when I was taking a lighting class and she was the makeup artist hired for the workshop. I liked her makeup and began hiring her for headshot shoots. When I first began doing pet photography, she and her wife Kate bought one of my first big pieces for their family of four dogs.
That was a very memorable shoot because it was the first time I had four sets of eyes looking at me all at once. It happened on the second shot. I thought pet photography was easy. Maybe not easy, but very fulfilling. It's my favorite thing ever.
I'm working on a new project now -- still involving dogs -- and I asked them to help me out by posing for me. A model shoot, if you will. And they obliged.
Now they have a fifth pooch joining their clan -- Birdie. There's Birdie, Sophie, Cowboy Jack, Albert and Tubby.
So here's a selection of image from their last shoot. The thing is, it was so productive, I'm still picking out images I love. I was very happy with this session.
