I just had the most fun week where we managed to photograph I think 11 dogs over five days of shooting. It was just so great, starting at the Jesus Wall Studio on Sunday with two clients we booked for those sessions... it included a tortoise! Then we had one of our Grammy bag recipients give us a call and we created an Eeyore-inspired composite for her differently abled dog named Eeyore. You know, Eeyore floating through the air attached to a red balloon? That one. And we photographed brother Roo as well.Next we were on to a Mother's Day gift card... this one had three dogs... a Greyhound, an Italian Greyhound, and a Pomeranian. We got great images of Bentley, Shadow and Baby individually ...
Pet photography in L.A.!You guys! You almost let me go all of May without a blog post! And surely you are waiting for one! I want to introduce you to Cosita, a much loved 13-year-old Pomeranian. Her owners, Don and Fernando, and I agreed to meet at a Los Angeles park. I'm not going to say which one. But it was one I'd never been to before though it's very iconic. It has views of downtown L.A. Spectacular.Anyway, we started off our shoot with the buildings of downtown in the background. For this shoot, I only brought my Fujifilm X-T2. And then when I had the slightest moment to drive over to see them, the foliage was turning brown. Just my luck. Not good for a presentation piece. My ace in the hole were the California poppies I have planted on my parkway. A bunch of them. Very pretty. So I asked my neighbor Sherri if she wanted to swing by with her ...

To be honest, my post-processing is fairly realistic. Oh sure, I'll go black and white, sometimes super grainy, and I've been known to go a little bit vintage but for the most part, I... let's call it "enhance," not totally blow things up.Well, a great photographer friend of mine let me know of a little secret she's been using to cook her pictures up a bit so I followed her. Wow.I'm kind of amazed at the results of this little program. It's very different. And it doesn't require too much to get some crazy cool results.Check out Dudley and Dr. Giggles.
