pet photographyI met Evie just before the new year turned. She has a ferocious bark but boy, that dog is one sweet little girl.

Evie, an American Staffordshire Terrier mix -- yes, that's the pit bull line -- has been fostered by The Little Red Dog for more than three years. PJ Rosch of TLRD said she needed some nice photos so I went to Desert Hot Springs to photograph her.

Why she hasn't gotten her permanent home yet, I don't know, but she is full of sweetness. She gets along with other dogs... she currently lives with a Mastiff and a Pomeranian... from one of the largest dogs to one of the smallest. And Evie is somewhere in between. But she doesn't like cats, I'll just be up front about that. If you have a cat, skip Evie. The Little Red Dog says she'd be best with an ault owner and older kids but she currently lives with a baby.

One thing I learned about Evie... girl loves her peanut butter. I gave her some of the peanut butter for dogs I carry (really... there is a peanut butter just for dogs... it doesn't have any sugar) and she just licked and licked and licked.

She has a really broad, beaming smile and is pretty well trained. She can sit, stay, shake, down, and come. She's crate trained and well mannered in the house. Just don't let that bark scare you.

She loves to play ball and play tug of war. And remember... Evie loves peanut butter.

Doug Mowatt - I've been following your work for a little while now. (No, I'm not a stalker) I just think you do great work. The "pit bull" has gotten a very bad rap. I believe it is more bad people, than bad animals. You have truly brought out the beauty in Evie. I hope she finds a "furever" home soon. Thanks for all you do.
