It's been so long, my friends! A very, very busy month as I finished the book by the October 15 deadline, then began to fulfill other orders plus squeeze in a couple of really fun dog and cat photography shoots! But now it's near Halloween and I finally completed what I guess you would call a Halloween Storytelling image. Yes, it's my friend Luna, the border collie mix, who is one of my greatest muses because of how expressive she is.I don't know if you watch "The Handmaid's Tale" on Hulu but I love it. Well, love is a strong word. It's sometimes very hard to watch, especially the second season. It was pretty brutal but of course I was addicted to it and hooked my sister on it as well. For ...

Yo, you've seen these all before but hey, it's the season and time to trot them out again. My creepy Halloween composites. In fact, I think the blue dog in the forest was one of the first composites I ever created. I was super proud of myself because I got the blue of the dog very close to the actual blue of the background photo, for starters, but I also shaded the dog, giving highlights and shadows. That little change made an enormous contribution to the dimensional aspect of it. Anyway, enjoy them once again!

I think you're gonna like it. I think you're gonna feel you belong here. Ha ha, that's an old Alice Cooper song, anyone else remember it? Totally dating myself.I made this little Halloween tableau of Channing, Jayne Harrower's awesome Lykoi cat, a few weeks ago and while you might have seen it on my Storytelling Sessions page, I didn't post it anywhere else because quite honestly, it's a little too creepy. Like American Horror Story: Feline. But it is Halloween and I've posted all of my other Halloween composites -- the blue dog, the witch cat and the Bengal in the forest. So here you go. Happy Halloween! And note the Yorkie's face in the portrait on the wall. Nice touch, no?

Had a great shoot last night at downtown L.A.'s Pussy and Pooch Howloween Pawty at the Unique Space. We had a little set of some kinda creepy things and took photos of the dogs dressed up in their Halloween costumes. What, you missed out on it? Check out Pussy and Pooch's Beverly Hills party from 7 to 10 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 29 at its gorgeous space. For now, please meet Athena as a wizard, Biggie as a small fish in a big pond, and Griffin as a witch. There were so many creative costumes there, how can anyone even pick a winner?

I posted the dog and the moon photo on Facebook last week and the place went crazy! I just wanted to show you that one and tell you how I created it.There are two ways to look at the Storytelling Sessions. One, we create a set and props to make it look like your dog is in a story. Or we place an image of your dog on a background and the result tells a story. As you saw with Luna in a Moroccan setting. Both have to be photographed well, don't get me wrong, but creating the second one means lighting it in such a way we can remove it from a backdrop, then place it in the setting. The dog in the blue portrait is Olive and she was photographed against a plain backdrop. As a terrier, she looks ...
